Goodbye

I am leaving for India in a few hours! I wish you all a very very happy new year, and I'll see you again in March, hopefully with a lot of new photos. I won't be able to reply to e-mails/ messages regularly, but I'll try my best to check my inbox now and then on the road.
This is probably also the right time to say thank you! to everybody who reads my blog - I've gotten so many new 'readers' during 2010 and it really means a lot.

PS. While waiting for the new year, you can read the second issue of Traum Noir and view the new homepage, traumnoir.com! Happy 2011!

December - winter III

3. Stones and blood splatter on Helsinginkatu
4. Night

December - traum noir #2

This is Antton, the other half of Traum Noir. We go to the same school and had a course in painting together before christmas. He's probably looking sad here because we spent the weeks before christmas working like crazy almost 24/7 on the second issue of Traum Noir, which will be out Tuesday, December 28th!
You'll be able to view the new homepage and read the entire magazine (48 pages, 35 contributors!) online on Tuesday evening, but of course, the real deal is the best. So you can now pre-order Traum Noir #2 on traumnoir.com/2 until December 28th, 10 AM GMT! Exciting. Can't wait to see the finished magazine myself.

November/ December - winter II

1. Tanwen shaved for ultrasound
2. Heavy snowfall in Västanfjärd

December - cinema

1. Les Chemins de Katmandu (1969)
2. Cannabis (1970)

The cinema of Finland's national audiovisual archive, Orion, has had a Serge Gainsbourg-theme this autumn. I went to see two of the movies shown last week, both featuring acting by Gainsbourg (who of course had written the music) and Jane Birkin. After seeing Les Chemins de Katmandu (with the amazing alternative title Dirty Dolls in Katmandu according to imdb) I thought it couldn't get worse. I was wrong. Cannabis was, despite the great soundtrack, possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

December - 3x anna

Trying to retreive an unwilling cat from under the bed

December 7th - fog at dawn

October - fog at dusk

I got a tumblr-account a couple of weeks back when I lost my notebook and felt like a somewhat organized way of saving images would be a good idea. Since I occasionally get asked what kind of photography I like, I thought I'd share the link - click here for tumblr. I'm trying to follow the now almost cliché Gandhi-quote "be the change you want to see" and promise to never post anything without credits or information.

December - kontur

I wrote an essay for a small literary magazine called Kontur (published together with Ny Tid) a while back, and it was published on Friday. It's very nerdy, but at least my mom will read it!

Read it online here!

December 5th - fashion

Quick snap between takes on a shoot with Elina Simonen - Saara / Brand wearing dress by Annika Heikinheimo.

November - winter

I bought some photobooks a while ago from the tiny German publisher Pogo Books - publications by Lukasz Wierzbowski, Mark Peckmezian and Linn Heidi Stokkedal in the photo above. Great stuff.

November - bathroom

I'm facing a stupid problem: I have so many pictures I haven't even looked at properly myself - the photos are everywhere, lying unscanned in boxes, cluttering my desk, falling on the floor, balancing on top of books in the shelf, unprinted negatives in heaps... I can never pick up the courage to finish some kind of archival process that I have going on. The overload is making me dread even looking at my working space. Organization could fix my blogging which is lagging behind alarmingly. One of these days...
