Actually, I hadn't planned to head to Kashmir. We were lucky enough when settled in Ladhack to discover Kashmir was enought safe at this moment to get visited.
Many ladhaki travel agencies advise to do not book a trip to Kashmir before landing to India. The political climate can change from one extreme to another at any period of the year. The best to do is visit a region closed to Kashmir and ask about its situation.
